Celebration of Rainforest Culture and Life

Immerse campers in the rich and vibrant world of tropical rainforests, teaching them about biodiversity, animal adaptations, plant life, and the critical importance of rainforest conservation through interactive and engaging activities. By the end of the camp, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the rainforest’s ecosystems, the unique creatures that live there, and the urgent need to protect this vital environment. They will also have built lasting memories through animal encounters, creative projects, and teamwork! 


Sample Activities:

  • Explore the cultures of people living in and around rainforests, such as the Amazonian tribes and Borneo communities. 
  • Learn traditional dances or songs inspired by rainforest cultures.  
  • Rainforest Olympics: Participate in fun, nature-themed games like a frog leap race or monkey swing relay.

Coral Reefs: Nature’s Masterpiece

Combine science and art in an engaging way, helping campers explore the beauty and complexity of marine life through creative expression. Campers will create marine-inspired art projects while learning about ocean ecosystems, marine animals, and environmental conservation. By the end of the camp, participants will have developed their artistic skills, expanded their knowledge of marine life, and created meaningful projects that reflect the beauty and importance of ocean ecosystems. They will leave inspired to be both artists and ocean ambassadors! 


Sample Activities:

  • Learn about coral reef ecosystems, their biodiversity, and threats like coral bleaching.
  • Close observation of coral reef animals in the Aquarium. 
  • Art project: Sculpt a colorful coral reef using clay, recycled materials, or papier-mâché. 
  • Science activity: Conduct a color mixing experiment to understand how light changes underwater. 
  • Game: Coral reef scavenger hunt, identifying animals and plants based on clues.

Sustainability Starters

Empower campers with knowledge and hands-on experience about sustainability, conservation, and environmental stewardship. Through fun activities and creative projects, they will learn how to protect ecosystems, reduce waste, and inspire others to care for the planet. By the end of the camp, participants will have gained the knowledge and skills to reduce waste, protect wildlife, and inspire others to live sustainably. They will also take home tangible projects and ideas to continue their journey as eco-warriors!


Sample Activities:

  • Discuss the concept of sustainability and why it is important for ecosystems like the ocean and rainforest. 
  • Explore the Aquarium to learn how habitats are maintained sustainably. 
  • Hands-on demonstration: The life cycle of everyday objects (e.g., plastic vs. biodegradable materials). 
  • Team activity: Brainstorm eco-friendly habits and pledge to adopt new habits. 
  • Decorate reusable water bottles to promote waste reduction.

Krakens and Giant Squid

Engage campers with fascinating myths and legends about the sea, while teaching them about the marine animals that inspired these stories. Through imaginative activities, animal encounters, and scientific exploration, campers will learn how folklore and science are connected. By the end of the camp, participants will have explored the connections between mythology and marine science. They will gain a deeper appreciation for the ocean’s wonders, from legendary creatures to the real-life animals that inspire awe and wonder in people worldwide.


Sample Activities:

  • Learn about the terrifying Kraken myths and compare them to the giant squid, one of the largest and most elusive creatures in the ocean. 
  • Observation of squid and octopus in the Aquarium’s habitats. 
  • Science experiment: Study suction cups and how octopuses and squid use them to grip surfaces and capture prey.
  • Craft: Create a Kraken or squid puppet.

Marine Giants & Migrators

Inspire a love for the ocean by teaching campers about marine ecosystems, animal behaviors, and the environmental challenges facing our oceans, through interactive learning and fun activities. By the end of the camp, participants will have gained a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems, conservation efforts, and the role they can play as future ocean protectors!


Sample Activities:

  • Interactive game Journey of the Sea Turtle where campers simulate the obstacles faced during a turtle’s migration. 
  • Whale vocalization activity – mimic and analyze whale songs.  
  • Visit the Aquarium’s large marine habitats, observing rays and sharks.  
  • Science experiment: Simulate underwater sound waves to understand echolocation.
