Welcome to the Living Planet

Science Learning Campus

The Rio Tinto Kennecott Plaza may be closed during inclement weather.

The Aquarium is expanding to create a new Science Learning Campus that will empower millions of guests to Explore, Discover, and Learn about Earth’s diverse ecosystems. The Campus includes two primary structures: EECO, a 165-foot-tall monument that served as U2’s stage for their renowned 360° Tour, and a cutting-edge L.S and Aline W. Skaggs Science Learning Center.

Through hands-on interactive exhibits, animal exhibits, high-tech classrooms, laboratories, and more, the Campus will offer experiences that help people understand that the environments we live in are all interconnected as one global ecosystem: The Living Planet. With this knowledge, we all can become better stewards of our environment.

The Rio Tinto Kennecott Plaza opened for a sneak peek in July 2020. The Plaza spans nine acres south of the Aquarium, and it’s the first chance for guests to see EECO (Ecosystem Exploration Craft & Observatory) up close. Guests can wander the pathways, explore the gardens, and find personalized bricks. All guests will now begin their experience in our new Welcome Center located in front of the plaza.
