Discover Mammals
Mammals are the most diverse class in the animal kingdom. Including things like humans, leopards, whales, porcupines, bats, and field mice, mammals range in size, mode of transportation, and even how they give birth. So what unites this ragtag group of misfits? Mammals have warm blood, meaning that their bodies regulate their body heat. (Cold-blooded animals rely on the temperature of their environment.) Mammals also, at some point or another, have some form of hair or fur—even whales have hair follicles!—and, of course, baby mammals first receive sustenance from their mother’s milk. No other class in the animal kingdom does that.
