Coca-Cola Partnership

Loveland Living Planet Aquarium Recognizes Coca-Cola, USA as a Valued Partner

Loveland Living Planet Aquarium believes in building a world in which everyone takes an active part in protecting Earth’s diverse ecosystems. As such, the Aquarium partners with companies that support this mission. Swire Coca-Cola, USA, the local bottling partner for Coca-Cola, is one such company.

Headquartered just five minutes away on the other side of 12300 South, Swire Coca-Cola is committed to sustainable development. This commitment to the sustainability of our planet falls into three main areas: water stewardship, climate protection, and packaging and recycling.

Swire Coca-Cola and its partners have helped replenish water sources in its territory, which stretches across parts of 13 states between the Mexican and Canadian borders and from the Pacific Ocean to the plains of Nebraska. Since 2006, Swire Coca-Cola’s manufacturing plants have reduced water usage by more than 20% and the company has returned to nature and communities an amount of water equivalent to 208% of what it uses in the production of its products. For example, just this year, Swire Coca-Cola joined several other organizations to support a project that increased flows on the Lower Provo River (pictured).

While water ecosystems are of particular interest for the Aquarium and aquarium visitors, no ecosystem exists in isolation. To enhance the quality of the air we breathe and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Swire Coca-Cola is the first Coca-Cola bottler in America to commit to science-based targets, a set of goals developed by businesses that aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to address global warming. As part of fulfilling this commitment, Swire Coca-Cola will generate 100% renewable electricity for its core operations by 2026. Earlier this year, Swire Coca-Cola’s newest sales center, in Yuma, Arizona was completed, featuring a rooftop photovoltaic array (pictured) that generates clean, renewable electricity.

Of course, plastic pollution is a concern for the Aquarium and all aquarium visitors. That is why we offer recycling options around our facility and encourage everyone to recycle as much as possible. The Aquarium also offers a variety of Coca-Cola beverages in different packaging, including DASANI water in aluminum cans. Two years ago, The Coca-Cola Company and its bottling partners, including Swire Coca-Cola, set a bold, global program called World Without Waste. The World Without Waste program has three fundamental goals: To help collect and recycle a bottle or can for every one it sells by 2030; make all of its packaging 100% recyclable by 2025; and make its bottles with an average of 50% recycled content by 2030.

Coca-Cola is the Aquarium’s exclusive soft drink provider. In addition to providing soft drinks for the Reef Café, Coca-Cola also provides beverages for private events, family parties, and vending machines on the Rio Tinto Kennecott Plaza. The Aquarium is grateful for the partnership with Coca-Cola and Swire Coca-Cola for supporting our mission to inspire people to explore, discover, and learn about Earth’s diverse ecosystems.
