Our Mission
Loveland Living Planet Aquarium (LLPA) is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to inspire people to Explore, Discover, and Learn about Earth’s diverse ecosystems. Taking this mission a step further, the Aquarium fosters stewardship of our Living Planet through conservation initiatives including the Coral Rescue program, which has a goal to restore 22 million square feet of coral reef in the Coral Triangle.
Read MoreHome to a quarter of marine species, coral reefs occupy less than one percent of the world’s oceans. Many coral species could be lost permanently if coral reef systems continue to deteriorate.
Coral Reefs face many threats including:
- Disease
- Pollution
- Overfishing
- Dynamite fishing
- Destructive recreational divers
- Bleaching caused by rising sea temperatures due to climate change
How to Help
Coral reef systems are in decline. Without change, scientists estimate we will lose 70 to 90 percent of reefs in the next 30 years. To help prevent this devastating loss, the Coral Rescue program is taking action. We are using a proven method, often referred to as coral farming, which utilizes underwater coral farms to grow and then “replant” coral fragments to re-establish healthy reefs.
Your contribution will help reestablish these critical ecosystems.

New Coral Adoption!

Coral Adoption
When you adopt a Staghorn Coral, you help restore endangered coral reef ecosystems through the Aquarium’s Coral Rescue program. We are dedicated to restoring 22 million square feet of coral reef in the Coral Triangle, the world’s epicenter of coral diversity. Your coral adoption shows that you care about this, too! Your support helps cover the cost of planting a coral fragment and monitoring the new reef for one year.
